API-only accounts

You do not need Lark, Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace to use AutomaDoc. An API-only account signs in with an email address and fills templates with data your own systems send through the document API.

  1. Open the Company Portal at company.automadoc.cc.
  2. Enter your address under Email address and click Email me a sign-in link.
  3. Open the link in the email, or type the 6-digit code from it on the same page. The code is handy when you read your mail on another device.

The first sign-in creates your account, and you are its admin. Later sign-ins work the same way: a new link each time, no password.

A sign-in link and its code work once and expire after 15 minutes. If yours expired, ask for a new one from the same page.

  • The Free plan’s monthly document allowance, with the “Generated with AutomaDoc” footer on documents.
  • Everything sold on the Billing page (Pro, seats and document packs), exactly as for any other account. See Plans, seats and packs.
  • No automatic Pro trial. Trials are for organizations (a Lark tenant, a Microsoft 365 organization or a Google Workspace domain); contact us if you want to try Pro first.

The document API works on every plan, Free included: its documents are counted against the free monthly allowance, then any document packs you hold.

Admins invite people under People: enter an address in Invite by email, choose Member or Admin, and click Send invitation. The invitee gets a sign-in link that joins exactly your account. Nobody joins an email account any other way, not even someone with an address at the same domain.

Under People an admin also changes roles and removes people. An account always keeps at least one admin.

An API-only account keeps its templates on the Company Portal’s Templates page (admins):

  1. Type a name under New template name and click Create API template.
  2. Click Upload file on the new template and choose a Word, Excel or PowerPoint file with placeholders such as {Name} (the same placeholder syntax as every AutomaDoc template). The file is checked as it is uploaded; if it has a problem, the page says so and you upload a corrected one.
  3. Copy the template’s ID with Copy template ID in its row menu. It is what you name in each API call.

Replace file uploads a new version of the same template, and Download gives you the current one back. Deleting a template is final.

Every template counts toward your plan’s template limit, as it does for any account.

Admins create a company key under API keys. It opens every template of your account to the document API; it is shown once, so store it like a password. Then call:

POST https://api.automadoc.cc/api/v1/templates/{templateId}/documents

with the key in the X-Webhook-API-Key header and your data as JSON, whose keys are the placeholder names in your file. The document API reference has the fields, the answers and examples.
