Connecting Excel, SharePoint, Dataverse and Google Sheets

The Connections page of the Company Portal (in the sidebar, under your company) has two parts: the organization your account signs in with, which admins see, and your own data connections, which everyone manages for themselves.

An account signs in with one platform, fixed when it is created: a Microsoft 365 organization, a Google Workspace domain, a Lark workspace, or email. Admins see that organization here, with its platform and ID. There is nothing to add or remove: a second sign-in platform cannot be linked to an account. An email account belongs to no organization, so it shows nothing here.

Data from another platform still comes in, through the data connections below. See Sign in with Microsoft, Google or email for how accounts and their people work.

A data connection is what you allow AutomaDoc to read with your own Microsoft or Google sign-in. Templates you own use it when they run automatically (an HTTP trigger, Power Automate, the document API), just as a Lark template runs on its owner’s Lark authorization.

Data connections work in every account, whatever it signs in with. A Lark account can read Excel workbooks, and a Microsoft 365 account can read Google Sheets: when you connect, you sign in at Microsoft or Google with your own account there.

Each kind of data is connected separately, so you are only ever asked for what you use:

  • Excel workbooks: workbooks in OneDrive and SharePoint. Documents can be saved beside them.
  • SharePoint lists: list items and their attachments. Status and link columns can be written back.
  • Dataverse (Power Apps): tables in your Power Apps environments. Once connected, the page lists the Dataverse environments you can reach.

Click Connect next to one, approve the request at Microsoft, and you are back on the page with it marked Connected. Most organizations require their Microsoft 365 admin to approve the Excel and SharePoint permissions first; see Admin consent for Microsoft 365.

Google Sheets asks only for access to the spreadsheets you pick and the files AutomaDoc creates in your Drive (drive.file), never your whole Drive. Documents are saved to your Drive. Pictures in your sheet must therefore be public links, or Drive files you picked for AutomaDoc. In the Google Sheets add-on, Connect this spreadsheet picks the spreadsheet you have open.

If Microsoft or Google stops honouring the connection (your password changed, your admin revoked it, it went unused for months), the page says Your connection expired or was revoked and offers Reconnect. Automations on your templates pause until you do; a colleague can also take a template over.

Disconnect makes AutomaDoc forget your connection. Templates you own that read that data stop running automatically until someone connects again. For Microsoft, also remove AutomaDoc in My Apps (myapps.microsoft.com) if you want the grant gone at Microsoft too; Google’s grant is revoked for you.
